Best Honeymoon -- A to Z Guide -- Part 2

Part 1 -- Part 2 -- Part 3 -- Part 4 -- Part 5  --  Part 6

E is for European Honeymoon

There are so many different ways to have the best honeymoon in Europe.  Depending on which countries take your fancy, the first option is to travel by car.   This way you are totally independent and free to stay in any place as long as you please, before meandering on to the next village, town, city, or country.

If you don't want to drive yourself, there are private tours where you can hire a private driver, and customize the trip according to your own tastes and preferences.

Another option for moving around Europe is, of course, by train.   Why not treat yourself to one of the luxurious train trips, such as the famous Orient Express from London to Venice, or the Glacier Express through the Swiss Alps.

With beautiful scenery, superb comfort, and fine dining all the way, luxury train travel in Europe would be a superb option for the best honeymoon.  See more via this link.

E is also for European Cruise

A European cruise is another beautiful way to drink in the sights and flavours of Europe.  I have devoted a separate page specifically to the Danube and Rhine River cruise that travels between Budapest and Amsterdam.  More details here.

F is for France Luxury Travel

Luxury Travel in France is one of those topics that almost has no end of possibilities.  You may never want to even leave Paris.  But if you do, the French countryside is a constant delight.  The variety of beautiful locations is more than be covered here.

For example, you may want to visit the Champagne region and attend tastings at a selection of French Chateaux.  Or lunch on the most authentic crepes in Quimper, Brittany.  The south of France has a warmer climate.  Walk in the footsteps of Brigitte Bardot through St Tropez or visit Cannes for the famous Film Festival.

Luxury Travel in France can be as opulent as it gets, or it can be a host of simple pleasures.  From a 5-star hotel dinner to a country picnic of the best bread and cheese.   France luxury travel has an entire A to Z all of its own.

F is also for France Cruise

A France cruise is another delightful choice for the best honeymoon vote.

These barges and riverboats cruise through picturesque regions, such as Burgundy, Bordeaux and down to Arles in the south.  Starry starry nights, art and culture go hand in hand with the best food and wines.

This is a wonderful example of the all inclusive honeymoon vacation.   Special offers and early-booking discounts are also available.

See more information here for a beautiful France Cruise.

G is for Greece Honeymoon

A Greece honeymoon is among the top honeymoon destinations.  So whether you choose a Greek Island cruise or you just want to find a beautiful villa on an island hilltop and relax, then you get to do it your way.  Certainly a Greece cruise makes sense, as a way of visiting a selection of islands.

Are you attracted to the famous ones such as Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Rhodes?  Or would you prefer other quieter, less-known islands?  Whichever ones you pick, there's plenty to choose from.

And if you feel like spending some extra time on Santorini, then click here for a range of special offers on villas, boutique hotels and luxury suites.  A gorgeous selection.

You may also want to spend some days in Athens, visiting ancient ruins and feeling the vibe of this bustling city.   Why not take in a sound-and-light show at the Parthenon by night.   A definite contender for the best honeymoon!

G is also for Gifts

Are you after some honeymoon gift ideas?   What about his and hers watches...   or a luxury spa gift basket.  Spa time is always something women enjoy.  For the man, perhaps some golf clubs or outdoor gear...

Have you created a gift registry for your wedding?   Would you like your guests to pay for your honeymoon?   To find out how, and to see more gift ideas, click here for a wider range of options.

H is for Hawaiian Honeymoon

It will probably come as no surprise that a Hawaiian Honeymoon ranks high as one of the top 10 honeymoon spots.   It's good to start with a few days in Honolulu, and explore the Island of Oahu.   I remember my first impressions on arrival:  the incredible burst of colour... having come from a cold grey winter.

Enjoy a visit to the famous pink landmark hotel on Waikiki:   The Royal Hawaiian.  This is one of the most popular hawaii honeymoon resorts, because of its stunning location, wedding facilities, and honeymoon vacation packages.

Even if you are not staying at the Royal Hawaiian, book in for one of their renowned "luau" dinners.  You'll receive a traditional Hawaiian welcome, through an evening of food and song, dancing (hula) and stories.  A cultural experience to "ground" you into your Hawaii honeymoon.

Then it's just a short flight to Maui -- a must-see for its beautiful bays and surfing beaches.   Also home to some of the best luxury spa resorts.

Another fun thing to do on Maui is a "movie star tour".  For example Oprah and Clint Eastwood have homes here.  I also remember seeing George Benson's place as well :)

So, if you'd like a little preview, click here to see the Top 10 Celebrities on Maui.

Then there's the island paradise of Kauai -- sometimes referred to as The Garden Isle.  Known for its lush vegetation and wild beauty, this is where Jurassic Park and other Hollywood films were made.

And if you are looking for a Big Island honeymoon, then you'll get to visit not just one but two active volcanoes.  Also a popular destination for snorkelling.

So, a few great options here for the best honeymoon!

H is also for Honeymoon in Singapore

When I think of Singapore...  I think of Raffles.

This grand, colonial hotel dates back to 1887, and is steeped in fascinating history.   It's guest list over the past 130 years reads like a book of "who's who".

Just think:  you could add your name to that list, with a honeymoon in Singapore.

This iconic establishment underwent a major renovation in 1989 -- lasting 2 years, at a cost of $160 million.  I stayed there back in 1984 and have visited a few times since.  So it's interesting to compare the before-and-after.

I had a spacious suite, directly off the verandah of the Palm Court -- a lush oasis, like an "inner sanctum" of the hotel, accessible only to guests.   I would describe it then as "old-worldy".   Now, since the make-over, there is a polish and sophistication, yet still maintains the original charm.

I recall the delightful salon music, wafting in on the evening breeze, from the palm court trio outside.  A lovely spot for a pot of tea or evening drink.

On my most recent visit, I enjoyed the High Tea -- another popular Raffles tradition.  Then, of course, there's the infamous story of the tiger in the bar -- back in the earlier days, when the likes of Noel Coward and Somerset Maugham would have sipped on gin slings.  Other writers, such as Ernest Hemmingway and Alfred Hitchcock, were also often in residence.

So if you are planning to honeymoon in Asia, you may like to consider staying at this grand dame of colonial glory.   Raffles Singapore could be the best honeymoon for you.
